Yes, through the “Carpooling Offers” feature, you can display available offers and requests for a specific itinerary. For security and confidentiality reasons, it is impossible to communicate with member if you are connected to your profile.

Registration is required to exchange messages with other members.

How do I communicate with registered members?

When viewing carpooling offers and requests in your member's profile, you only have to select the member of your choice to send him a message through our integrated messaging service.

About the laws, regulations and the sharing of transportation costs?

Several Canadian provinces and U.S. states encourage carpool by providing the population with websites allowing the matching between drivers or passengers. HOV lanes are also provided in multiple provinces and states to reduce commuting time.

Carpooling is allowed in most Canadian provinces and states as long as transportation costs are divided equally among the number of people part of the same trip. The amount of money paid by the passengers must, under no circumstances, constitute an income for the driver. Make sure that any travel made with other carpoolers is done in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in the territory where you are traveling.

Automobile liability insurance - Carpooling may affect your private automobile liability insurance plan. In fact, some insurance companies may require a premium to their customers who do carpool. So, if you carpool, it is important to notify your insurance company. Also make sure that your liability policy provides coverage in the event you provide a ride to other carpoolers in your own car.

What information of my member's profile will stay confidential?

The only public information are the gender and age, and type of vehicle in the case of a driver. Users are free to divulge or not their personal information during exchanges with other members.

Also, the following information is requested during registration: Name, first name, age (the date of birth is not asked), gender, valid email address and type of vehicle for drivers.

Is the identity of registered members verified?

In the context of an employer or institution program, the identity of employees or students is validated through a rigorous process established by The Carpoolingnetwork.com. These members are displayed with their employer’s or their institution’s logo.

Are drivers’ permits validated?

No, this verification provides a false sense of safety between carpoolers. It only gives information as to whether or not the permit has been paid at the moment of verification. This means that a driver could lose his license the day following the verification and still be identified as having a valid permit until the next verification.

Furthermore, this validation does not provide information about the driving record of the driver.

What are employer / institution programs?

The Carpoolingnetwork.com offers employers and institutions turn key solutions to promote carpooling that includes a personalized carpooling Website, an integrated management of incentives, a compilation of statistics concerning the participation in the program and travel habits of users, and the expertise of The Carpoolingnetwork.com concerning the implementation and management of carpooling programs. You can access to the online parking permit requests through your profile’s home page.

You may be prompted to complete the “Daily commutes logbook” before accessing the request form. This logbook provides the employer with a wealth of information about his employees’ travel habits.

Guaranteed ride program - Refund request form

If you participate in an employer or transit authority program that offers a guaranteed ride program, you can request a refund online.

You can access to the online guaranteed ride refund form through your profile’s home page.

You may be prompted to complete the “Daily commutes logbook” before accessing the request form. This logbook provides the program manager with a wealth of information about his commuty’ travel habits.

The terms of refunds are specific to each employer or transit authority. Please refer to them before requesting a refund.

How does the member’s evaluation function works?

Registered members of The Carpoolingnetwork.com's affiliated Website can use the member’s evaluation function to evaluate others drivers and passengers using the following criteria:

  • Reliability and punctuality;
  • General behavior;
  • Driving habits*;
  • Vehicle appearance and condition*.

* For drivers only

An average evaluation is calculated to be presented for each user. Each criterion can be evaluated in through stars (1-5). To evaluate another member, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Having exchanged at least one message with the user;
  • Have filled a carpool permit request with the user (employer carpooling program);
  • Having identified the user as a carpooler in your Commute trips logbook.

A members’ evaluation can be visible only if he has been evaluated by at least two different members.

About the Search for drivers and passengers function

The function « Search for drivers and passengers » can be used through the public sections of all Web sites affiliated to The Carpoolingnetwork.com.

This function allows visitors to perform a quick search through rideshare requests and offers already posted by other registered members. For security and confidentiality reasons, it is impossible to communicate with member if you are not registered and/or not connected to your profile.

One you have signed up to The Carpoolingnetwork.com'S affiliated Website, publish your itinerary through your member's profile and consult similar carpooling offers and requests. From there, you will be able to select a member and exchange messages to come to an agreement for ridesharing.
